International Data Transfers – Are Your Contracts Ready?
The deadline for UK businesses to update existing contracts that provide for the transfer of personal data to entities based elsewhere in the world has now passed.
The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) cross-market data protection working group has been highlighting the importance of compliance to ensure international data transfers have the correct transfer mechanisms in place to provide ‘appropriate safeguards’ in accordance with the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). As a result, the LMA’s Steve Morrell, Head of Regulatory Affairs, co-authored an article for Compliance Rules, a British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) publication, together with Susan Coldbeck, Data Protection Officer at Axis Capital. You can find it here.
This article first appeared in BIBA’s Compliance Rules in Q1 2024.
