Lloyd’s Brussels Subsidiary (LBS) Policy Documentation

Lloyd’s has established a new insurance company based in Brussels (Lloyd’s Insurance Company S.A., known as Lloyd’s Brussels), to underwrite non-life insurance and facultative reinsurance risks located in EEA countries with effect from 01 January 2019.

To support the underwriting of EEA risks by Lloyd’s Brussels (i.e. for policies incepting on or after 01 January 2019), Lloyd’s, in conjunction with the LMA, has prepared a new suite of policy documentation for Lloyd’s Brussels, including:

  • generic certificates (jackets and schedules) and country-specific variations where required
  • generic open market policy documents (jackets and schedules)
  • ancillary clauses e.g. service of suit, language declaration clause, data protection/privacy notices, IPID template
  • complaints notices for individual countries.

All the documents and clauses that have been produced specifically for use by Lloyd’s Brussels (including the Coverholder Appointment Agreement LBS0001) have been allocated a 'LBS' prefixed reference number. They have been published within the dedicated 'Lloyd’s Brussels' section of the Lloyd's Wordings Repository (LWR). Translations of certain documents will also be published on the LWR as soon as they are available. Any queries regarding the new LBS documentation should be referred to Alison Colver at the LMA, or to LITA:
