Aviation sub-committees and forums

The LMA Aviation Committee has responded to the Market’s requests to look into particular areas of interest and has subsequently formed several sub-committees.  Each sub-committee reports into the main LMA Aviation Committee at the monthly meetings.

The sub-committees and a brief description of their scopes are as follows:

The Forum was established in order to liaise with the appropriate bodies from the International Underwriting Association (IUA) and London and International Insurance Brokers Association (LIIBA) on technical issues where a collective view would be beneficial to stakeholders, clients, Governments and Regulators.  It also provides a platform for the discussion of technical issues relating to model clauses and wordings under discussion within the Aviation Insurance Clauses Group (AICG).

From time to time the LMA membership request detailed information regarding implications of certain issues within the aviation/aerospace sector which this Forum provide the expertise to deliver. 

The Forum also works to develop LMA model wordings and/or model agreements by consulting with practitioners from within the Market and externally persons or organisations as appropriate.  This promotes the highest level of market efficiency and standards for the benefit of LMA members and other parties.

This Committee was formed to look into the satellite specific issues which are not covered by the main LMA Aviation Committee.  The committee represents the interests and needs of satellite/space risks underwriters at Lloyd’s and guides the services provided by the LMA to the satellite/space risks market. 

This group promotes efficient operation and the highest technical standards in the satellite/space risks sector by representing the interests of practitioners within Lloyd’s and other organisations relevant to the sector both in the UK and overseas.  They support and co-ordinate Lloyd’s aviation and/or satellite representatives on London Market joint committees and other bodies or organisations and may appoint and oversee sub-committees or working parties as considered necessary.

This Forum was established to discuss the Aviation Hull War specific issues within the Lloyd’s Market. 

The group will identify issues considered to be of interest or concern to any Lloyd’s managing agent engaged in aviation hull war business and will respond to practitioners in the sector, the LMA Executive, policy committees and other committees and panels when advice or recommendations on issues are requested or deemed necessary.
