Joint Liability Committee – 25 June 2025

Work continues on updating LSW169A, with a focus on modernising the wording, improving clarity and assessing alignment with Joint Liability and umbrella structures. Members highlighted potential drafting challenges, including definitions and jurisdictional considerations, while emphasising that changes should enhance clarity rather than alter intent.

The Committee reviewed meeting frequency and agreed to retain monthly scheduling, allowing flexibility to cancel when required.

A significant discussion centred on evolving risks in the Persian Gulf, including notice practices, alignment with war cover, and the role of clubs in communicating exposures. A working group will take this forward.

Claims and legal updates covered US tort developments and climate litigation trends, while broader discussions included data collection initiatives and forthcoming EU emissions regulation updates.
