The Aviation Committee met to consider market developments and emerging technical issues affecting the aviation insurance sector.
The minutes of the previous meeting held on 18 June 2025 were approved, subject to a minor amendment.
Members discussed market intelligence and regulatory developments, including feedback requested on proposed amendments to the PFAS exclusion. Members were encouraged to continue providing comments, with the LMA to liaise with legal advisers to obtain further clarification.
Updates were received from sub‑committees. The Satellite Risk Committee reported no matters for discussion at this meeting. The Hull War Forum provided an update on the geopolitical situation affecting aviation operations, noting airspace closures across parts of the Middle East and associated operational and safety considerations. Members discussed the heightened risks to overflight safety during periods of increased tension, including the potential for misidentification of commercial aircraft and disruption to humanitarian operations.
The Committee noted that the situation remained fluid and agreed that continued monitoring of developments would be required.
