The LMA is the unified voice of Lloyd’s managing agents, championing their interests in both global discussions and local regulation. Our vision positions advocacy not as an add-on, but as a core strength. By harnessing our members’ deep technical knowledge, we advocate for fair, practical and forward-looking regulation that supports Lloyd’s position as a competitive global marketplace.
Our advocacy spans a wide spectrum – from engaging with UK, EU and US regulators on key issues like consumer definitions, to driving reforms that impact how business is conducted, including capital oversight to delegated authority structures, reporting rationalisation and faster claims payment. We’re also working with global partners to influence sustainable underwriting and regulatory clarity during the transition to net zero.
In addition, we are leveraging our work with the Financial Conduct Authority to differentiate commercial and specialty business from being regulatorily classified with all other types of insurance. We will also continue our regulatory work with Lloyd’s, with a particular focus on its delegated underwriting strategy, the proposed capability frameworks and ongoing enhancements to the Principles for Business Oversight (PBO) framework.
We translate market insight into meaningful influence. The LMA ensures that managing agents’ voices are not just represented but are actively shaping the market’s future. We don’t just participate in conversations, we lead them. Whether it’s government policy, operational reform or international standards, our advocacy makes sure that managing agents are protected, empowered and listened to.
