Wordings Committee

The LMA Wordings Committee was originally established in the early 2000s to support the LMA’s Non-Marine Committee (NMC) in its responsibility for approving LMA model wordings.

Today, the committee is comprised of 10 experienced members from across the Lloyd’s wordings community and supported by the LMA’s wordings and legal teams. It convenes on a monthly basis to review draft wordings and discuss other issues of interest.

The committee reports to the NMC on a monthly basis, detailing wordings currently in production and submitting draft policy wordings and clauses to the NMC for formal approval.

Wordings Forum

The LMA Wordings Forum is chaired by Bill Hapiuk and is open to all wordings professionals working for LMA members. The forum meets quarterly, usually online and often holds briefing events on topical issues. LMA representatives also provide updates on key projects.

The Wordings Forum Committee Secretary is Claudia Goodridge, Senior Executive, Technical Underwriting at the LMA.

This event will coincide with the publication of two new Barnett Waddingham reports: a market survey on AI risk management and a practical AI best practice guide. The session will explore key findings from the research and examine how firms are approaching governance, oversight and operational implementation of AI tools.

On a monthly basis, the Wordings Committee provides a comprehensive report to the NMC, detailing the full list of policy wordings and clauses currently under development. This regular reporting process ensures transparency, facilitates oversight and enables the NMC to maintain strategic visibility over the progression of all wordings in production.
