The Aviation Committee met to consider market developments and regulatory issues affecting the aviation insurance sector.
The minutes of the previous meeting held on 17 September 2025 were approved, subject to minor amendments to accurately reflect attendance.
Members discussed key insights from the recent Airport Risk Community (ARC) conference, held between 1 and 3 October 2025. Discussion focused on anticipated drivers of future aviation market growth, alongside the evolving risk environment, including the increasing emphasis on operational resilience and efficiency across the sector.
The Committee also considered developments relating to Indian premium regulation, noting the requirement for cross‑border reinsurers to retain a proportion of Indian risks locally. Members were advised that while the regulation applies to premium payments, it does not explicitly address commission. As a result, underwriters should expect requests for full commission to be settled within the first instalment, with premium payments typically made net of commission. The discussion was intended to raise awareness of the regulatory position rather than prescribe market practice.
