Aviation Committee – 19 November 2025

The Aviation Committee met to review key technical and market developments relevant to the aviation insurance sector.

The minutes of the previous meeting held on 15 October 2025 were approved without amendment.

Members received an update on the LMA Academy’s aviation training offering, which includes structured foundational, intermediate and technical courses. New subject areas, including terrorism, business interruption and cyber, were highlighted. Members discussed potential demand for aviation‑specific training and whether existing marine courses could be adapted for aviation use. Feedback and suggestions on course content and engagement models were requested ahead of the next meeting.

An update was provided on clause development, including war‑related wordings. Members were advised of the ongoing work of a dedicated subgroup considering automatic termination and war clause issues, with discussion focusing on developing approaches that provide greater certainty around the continuation of policy coverage. Members supported the LMA’s continued engagement on this topic and agreed that further updates would be provided in due course.
