International Professional Liability Committee – 11 November 2025

The Committee approved the minutes of the May meeting before receiving an update from the Emerging Talent Group, which had recently covered Blueprint Two and would next focus on AI. Members were encouraged to nominate suitable junior colleagues for future participation. It was noted that the AI paper had now been published, and the item would be removed from the agenda. An update on Project Spring Clean confirmed that the review of LSW0671 was underway, with members to provide final comments via email.

The Committee discussed recent Non‑Marine Committee developments before receiving a legal update on the Mazur v Charles Russell Speechly case. The discussion highlighted the importance of ensuring that regulated legal activities are undertaken only by appropriately authorised individuals, particularly in relation to litigation conduct, drafting responsibilities, and block notifications.

A claims update noted forthcoming structural changes to the FI/PI Committee. The IUA update covered PFAS, cyber coverage developments, consumer‑claim trends, and governance changes. Under AOB, members requested circulation of the SMB legal opinion and agreed to review a profit commission clause for potential further discussion. The next meeting will take place on 20 January 2026.
