Joint Renewable Energy Underwriting Committee – 02 December 2025

The Renewable Energy Committee met on 2nd December 2025. Lloyd’s position on NMA 2914 and 2915 was discussed, clarifying there is no blanket prohibition but that underwriters may need to justify their use. A broader market clause was noted as concerning, and members agreed to monitor developments and consider further dialogue with Lloyd’s.

The DNV training initiative remains in progress, with final details pending. Sub-group discussions continued regarding the obsolescence clause and the development of tools to streamline statements of values.

Claims updates included major losses in Jamaica, South Africa, Laos, and Australia, with discussion of serial loss handling, investigation costs, and the need for clear sub-limits and wording alignment. Market issues focused on slip accuracy, SMB and engineering fees, broker practices, and enforcement of Long-Term Agreements, emphasising stronger contractual wording and closer scrutiny of documentation.
