Livestock/Bloodstock Business Panel – 29 October 2025

Items for Discussion
A response letter to the EVJ article on colic was reviewed, with agreement to finalise and send to the Editor. Updates on the Vet Liaison Group confirmed progress toward scheduling a late November/early December meeting, though vet availability remains challenging. Committee membership logistics were discussed, including limiting in‑person attendance to one representative per firm and seeking an Irish vet contact.

Nick Mills Lecture 2026
Members confirmed a 3pm lecture slot followed by informal drinks. The Old Library venue was secured, and <Person>Dr Richard Newton</Person> was confirmed as speaker. Members were encouraged to promote attendance among Livestock underwriting colleagues.

Wordings Update
Members agreed brokers should be engaged ahead of publication of amendments replacing “humane destruction” references. The prevalence of the archived LMA5407 consumer cyber exclusion in mortality‑related wordings was noted, and members agreed an international version of LMA5554 should be developed. Progress on the FSI/Option A wording continued, with drafting challenges expected to keep the topic on future agendas. An update to NMA1485 (Law and Jurisdiction) was requested to replace references to “United Kingdom” with “England and Wales”.

Any Other Business
Members were encouraged to keep cameras on in virtual meetings as part of LMA committee etiquette. Engagement and visibility were emphasised as essential to effective participation.
