LMA Claims Committee – Meeting Summary (17 December 2025)

Innovation, Technology and Market Modernisation

The Committee received an update on innovation proof‑of‑concepts (POCs) from Steve Flood – Beazley and COLG member. Discussion centred on how best to maintain momentum in technology to enable change. Members reflected on industry research pointing to the growing role of AI in enhancing claims management, alleviating talent constraints and supporting new product development.

A key focus was the recent proof‑of‑concept (POC) for Cygnvs, a collaboration and communication tool tested across the market. POC participants considered the POC successful, recognising the tool’s potential to streamline communication on MDCs. The Committee noted the need for clear governance, integration planning, security assurance and a defined funding model before progressing to a market pilot. Members also highlighted the importance of broadened use cases, transparent success criteria and early engagement with brokers and experts.

Committee Role, Sector Group Engagement and 2026 Strategy

The Committee reflected on its role in setting strategic direction for the market in 2026. Members emphasised improved alignment with sector groups, advocating for clearer objectives, and consistent two‑way communication. Proposals included a joint workshop with sector group chairs and a rota for LMACC attendance.

Members also discussed wider market challenges, including rising legal and operational costs, claims inflation and customer expectations around communication and decision‑making. They noted positive examples of the market’s performance in rapid claims settlement and reinforced the value of continued data‑driven insight. The Committee encouraged market feedback on the Data Council’s consultation.
