The panel reviewed key market issues, administrative updates and outcomes from a recent member survey. The main discussion focused on the Financial Ombudsman Service’s approach to travel insurance claims, with members concerned that FOS decisions blur the distinction between delay and cancellation, requiring insurers to pay claims clearly excluded by policy wording. This was seen as creating pricing and contractual challenges, and the LMA agreed to raise the issue with the ABI. Survey feedback led to several actions: trialling an in-person-only meeting in November, establishing market forums (some including brokers), arranging a US disability briefing, and drafting guidance for A&H leaders on expectations around communication, reserving, auditing and data. Lloyd’s will be invited to brief the panel, and members will provide short biographies to support engagement. Updates were given on reviews of older wordings, the US Accident Form, data quality concerns, and committee membership.
