The Wordings Committee convened to progress clause development and review. The meeting opened with a reminder of the LMA Charter and competition law compliance.
The Committee reviewed several outstanding actions, including updates to LMA5020/5021 and NMA1998 clauses, which remain under consideration following market feedback. Work continues on the NMA2244E Loss Occurrence Clause and the Terrorism and Political Violence Hybrid Cyber clauses.
An update was provided on Project Spring Clean with general clauses not specific to any class of business having been circulated to members of the Committee. Members were encouraged to reallocate any wordings they were unable to review. The Committee also discussed the new protocol for clause withdrawal and archival, agreeing that archived and withdrawn clauses should remain accessible via the LWR, with usage decisions left to managing agents.
Drafts of LMA3172/3173 and LMA5197B were reviewed, with feedback requested by 10 June.
Following a recent effectiveness review, the Committee agreed to trial quarterly in-person meetings, AI-generated summaries (subject to secretary review) and reorder agendas to prioritise wording reviews. A quarterly social meet-up will also be arranged.
