Leigh joined the Lloyd’s Motor Underwriters Association in 1995, which later merged with the LMA in 2005. Leigh assists David Powell in the secretarial duties relating to motor business panels and provides support in the running of the Political Risks, Terrorism and UK Property and Household Business Panels.
Chris serves as the Underwriting lead at the LMA, overseeing Cyber, Property, Casualty/Liability and P&C Treaty. With three years at the LMA, he manages the class of business committees, ensuring their effective operation.

Matthew joined the LMA in 2026 as Underwriting Director, where he leads the LMA’s Underwriting team and plays a critical role in working with the Corporation of Lloyd’s, LMA members and the wider Lloyd’s market.
He has 20 years’ London market experience, during which he has held a range of leadership roles for companies writing between US$150m annually to US$3.9bn GWP. Prior to joining the LMA, he served as CUO and Active Underwriter for Ki. He was previously responsible for an underwriting portfolio of US$3.9bn GWP at The Fidelis Partnership, working across multiple classes including reinsurance, marine, aviation, political violence, contingency, political risk, transactional liability and property D&F.

As an Executive, Technical Underwriting, Toby works on wordings production, helping to draft and review LMA model wordings. He provides technical support to members and conducts research relevant to the market. Toby also represents the LMA at meetings and on external groups. Prior to joining the LMA, he spent some time working in schools.
Toby holds a BA in Politics.

As an Executive, Technical Underwriting, Lloyd works on wordings production, helping to draft and review LMA model wordings. He provides technical support to members and conducts research relevant to the market. Lloyd also represents the LMA at meetings and on external groups.
Prior to joining the LMA, Lloyd worked as an Account Executive at a software development company in London, where he was responsible for the full sales cycle of Luminance's AI powered legal process automation platform.
Lloyd holds a first class honours LLB in Law with Politics from the University of Manchester.
Shazia began her career with the Non-Marine Association before its merger with the LMA, where she moved into a role in the Communications Team. She later took on responsibility for managing and supporting the Lloyd’s Wordings Repository (LWR) and was subsequently also appointed Secretary to the newly established Joint Specie Committee (JSC) for Specie and Fine Art Underwriters, part of the LMA’s Underwriting Team structure.
Pushkar joined the LMA in September 2025 as part of our marine team, where he represents the interests of marine underwriters across the London market. As part of his role, Pushkar will help develop model marine wordings, interact with key stakeholders and work with our members across the Joint Committees.
Prior to joining the LMA, Pushkar held positions at Lloyd's within the global marine services and broker oversight team.

Joe Brace was appointed Operations Director at the LMA in April 2025. Through engagement with operations and technology C-suite in Lloyd’s managing agents, Lloyd’s Corporation and other London market trade associations, he is responsible for representing LMA members’ interests in, and the LMA contribution to: market modernisation and digitisation initiatives; supporting and influencing the design, adoption and evolution of shared, central services supplied to LMA members.
Acting as Customer Representative for LMA members and working closely with the London Insurance Market Operations & Strategic Sourcing (LIMOSS) team, Joe also has oversight of the effective and efficient delivery of production services and change programmes by Market Services supplier organisations.
Prior to joining the LMA, Joe was Head of Change at Apollo.
Matt Wood joined the LMA in October 2020 as Head of Technology. Matt is responsible for the technology, operational resilience and security remits we currently use at the LMA. Additionally, his role extends to engagement with our members, suppliers and other stakeholders with a focus on technology enablement of the Market, which comes in many and varied forms.
Prior to working with the LMA, Matt was Head of Business Operations at Integra Insurance Solutions, an MGA owned by Hannover Re.

Sebastian joined the LMA in March 2023 as Senior Executive, Claims.
Prior to joining the LMA, Sebastian held roles with AXA, Deloitte and most recently as Claims Operations Project & Performance Manager for Chubb. With close to 20 years’ experience in the industry across multiple geographies, Sebastian has led and/or supported initiatives and projects relating to operating model, digital/tech and claims strategy. He will support the Lloyd’s claims community and look to build on its strong fundamentals whilst driving change for the continued success of the market.
Alex joined the LMA in April 2023. In his role as Senior Executive for the Finance & Risk team, he provides executive support to the Chief Risk Officers Committee, Finance Committee, the Internal Auditors Committee and various related subgroups and committees.
Before joining the LMA, Alex held several key market oversight roles at Lloyd’s, most recently as an Account Manager, with a focus on areas such as business planning, corporate sustainability, governance and risk management. Prior to that, Alex held positions at the PRA and the FCA, where he worked as an Insurance London Market Supervisor and a governance policy expert, involved in SII and the roll-out of SMCR to insurance firms. Alex career started at Standard & Poor’s, where he was an Insurance Ratings Analyst, covering Western Europe and the Lloyd’s Market.

Janine Powell joined the LMA as Claims Director in August 2022. Janine has held various other senior roles within Lloyd’s since 2010 and has over 25 years of insurance industry experience.
In her Claims Director role, Janine provides claims leadership on strategic, technical and operational matters and will seek to influence and challenge the strategy of claims across the market and Lloyd’s, on behalf of our members and the Lloyd’s claims community, to enable the future success of the market.

As Head of Regulatory Affairs, John plays a key role in providing regulatory and compliance support to the market. His area of focus is primarily in the conduct risk space of regulation. He also manages several committees.
Previously, John supported RSA Insurance during their first year of product governance and implementation of Consumer Duty. Prior to that, he worked at the Financial Conduct Authority, where he dealt with thematic and sector-wide risks. Prior to joining the FCA he led coverholders, managing general agents and service companies.
John holds a Diploma in Insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
Arabella Ramage joined the LMA on September 2021. Arabella is responsible for providing support on legal, wordings, regulatory and compliance issues to the Lloyd’s managing and members’ agency community. She focuses on legal issues impacting the Lloyd’s market including law reform and financial services regulation, as well as maintaining an overview of the UK and international legal and regulatory environment.
Prior to joining the LMA, Arabella was the General Counsel for International Insurance and Reinsurance with responsibility for all legal support for insurance and reinsurance business across AXA XL’s international platforms and Lloyd’s syndicates. She has led a large team of lawyers and wordings specialists across 17 jurisdictions. Arabella has worked for AXA XL since 2000 and began her career at Ince & Co in 1990.
Ray Koh joined the LMA in September 2022. Ray is responsible for the wordings trainee scheme as well as participating on the day to day work of legal at the LMA.
Previously, Ray worked for 15 years at AXA XL, latterly as an Associate General Counsel in charge of legal issues relating to distribution and delegated authority. Prior to that he worked as a litigation lawyer at the law firms of RPC and CMS.
Ray sits as a Deputy District Judge (Civil) on a part time basis.

Doug joined the LMA in April 2022.
Doug originally hails from New Zealand but has been living in the UK for several years, carrying out IT support in varied environments from factories, tiny start-ups and large corporations.
Outside of work, Doug is an avid musician and, in another life, he was even a professional photographer.
As Head of Marketing and Communications, Carole is responsible for all external marketing and communications and the LMA's member engagement strategy.
Before joining the LMA in 2023, Carole held several marketing and communications roles at Marsh, most recently as Global Marketing and Communications Leader for Climate and Sustainability and Placement.
Carole holds a BA (Hons) in European Languages and an Advanced Certificate in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
As an Executive, Marketing and Communications at Lloyd's Market Association, James plays a key role in executing strategic communication plans and campaigns, designed to enhance the member experience.
Prior to joining the LMA, James had several years of marketing and communications experience, contributing to the strategic planning, distribution and creation of compelling content.
James holds a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations and an MSc in Marketing with a year's industrial placement as the Global Marketing Intern at CommScope.
Having joined the LMA in 2024, Alice plays a pivotal role in the LMA's marketing and communications team. Her role spans marketing strategy, press relations, content development, end-to-end campaign delivery and social media management.
Prior to joining the LMA, Alice had several years' experience in marketing and content roles across a variety of industries, including financial services and publishing.
She holds a BA in English Literature from King's College London.

Sheila Cameron was appointed Chief Executive of the LMA in 2019, where she represents the voice of the managing agent community in the London market. She has been heavily involved in the Future at Lloyd’s strategy and the market’s cultural reform agenda. In addition, Sheila is a board member of the London Market Group (LMG), chairs the LMG’s Data Council and is a Vice President of the CII’s Insurance Institute of London.
Before becoming CEO at the LMA, Sheila led various international change and operational functions at The Hartford, Hiscox and Xchanging’s claims business. She began her career at Accenture in Dublin.
LMA Board Member
Clare joined MS Amlin in 2022 as Head of Claims - being promoted to Chief Claims Officer in 2024, and is currently a member of its executive committee.
Clare has over 25 years of experience in the London Market, covering a wide variety of first-party and third-party claims management and leadership roles.
She has been a representative (and chair) of various LMA and IUA claims committees during her years in the industry and has participated in several claims modernisation working groups.
Duncan Dale is a highly experienced underwriter in the London/Lloyd’s market. He started his career in 1982 and entered Lloyd’s in 1989. Following a long career at the Amlin Syndicate, where his last position was the Managing Director of Amlin London, he left in order to establish Dale Underwriting Partners which commenced underwriting for the 2014 year of account.
Ms. Froehlich has been a director of the Company since June 11, 2020. She has over 25 years of management experience in the financial services industry. From 2010 to 2016, Ms. Froehlich held senior roles at the specialist Lloyd’s of London insurance and reinsurance marketplace, including interim director of performance management, where she was responsible for all commercial aspects of oversight of the marketplace and setting underwriting standards, and also head of underwriting performance. Before Lloyd’s, she worked in Zurich as a Managing Director for Swiss Re in various roles. Having started there in private equity, she later took on senior management roles which included portfolio management of structured reinsurance products, driving transformation and strategic initiatives and serving as the Head of Transactions UK at Admin Re.
She currently serves as a Non-executive Director and Chair of Remco for Aegon UK Limited and its subsidiaries, and as a Non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Managing Agency Partners Ltd since 2017, and served a Non-executive Director of Starr International Europe Limited and Starr Managing Agents Limited from 2017-2020 where she chaired the Remuneration Committee and was a member of the Audit and Risk Committees. In addition, Ms. Froehlich has served since 2019 as the Chair of Aspen Insurance U.K. Limited and as Chair of Aspen Managing Agency Limited, where she previously chaired the Risk Committee, since 2021. Ms. Froehlich started her career as a commercial solicitor in Scotland before moving into M&A and structured finance.
Bethany joined Beazley in September of 2019 after 23 years in the brokerage industry focusing on client solutions in Management Liability, Errors & Omissions Liability, and Cyber insurance. She spent the 19 years prior to Beazley at Marsh with her last role leading the West Zone for Marsh’s FINPRO division based in San Francisco. Bethany has held many roles since joining Beazley first as the Head of Executive Risk and then moving into the Head of Cyber & Executive Risk (CyEx) role to her current role effective April 2022 as Head of Specialty Risks. She is focused on growing and diversifying our book of Specialty Lines products through innovation and working with our trading partners. Bethany is based in London.
Kate Markham is Chief Executive Officer of Hiscox London Market and a member of the Hiscox Group Executive Committee, a Board director of Hiscox Syndicates Limited and Chair of the Hiscox MGA Limited. She is also the Executive Sponsor for Diversity and Inclusion and has been a member of the LMG Board since 2018.
Prior to being appointed to the Hiscox London Market role in 2017, Kate led the UK Direct business for Hiscox. She started her career at Accenture and spent 12 years working at Vodafone.
Chaucer appointed Richard as Chief Executive Officer in April 2024. Richard’s main responsibilities include the business's general oversight, management, and strategic development. Richard has over 25 years of (re)insurance experience, including senior leadership roles at Aspen and Axis Re. He has extensive global (re)insurance expertise across Lloyd’s and international markets, driving transformation and delivering growth and performance goals.
John has been Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AXIS Managing Agency since Q1 2024. He also leads the Specialty Underwriting team within AXIS Global Markets. He began his insurance career in 1991 at Commercial Union, before moving to Lloyd’s in 1996 at DP Mann and then Novae in 1999.
John specialised in underwriting Credit & Political Risks for the first 20 years of his career but took on increasingly broader management roles from 2011 when he became Novae’s Deputy Active Underwriter. John joined AXIS when it acquired Novae in 2017, initially as Head of Marine & Political Risks.
He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, and previously served on the Management Committee of ICISA (International Credit Insurance and Surety Association) and as a member of the LMA Political Risks & Financial Contingencies Committee.
Sheel Sawhney is Group Head of Claims and Operations, with responsibility for delivery of Brit’s global claim services, operational performance and resilience. Sheel has led many of the market-leading claims and operational innovations at Brit and is the Executive Sponsor for the Future of Lloyd’s Claims transformation programme.
Sheel is also a member of the Lloyd’s Market Association Claims Committee (LMACC) and has over 25 years of experience in the sector having worked at AIG, Travelers and Alea Group.
Jane was appointed Active Underwriter in April 2021 and is also UK Legal Entities Managing Director, a role she has held since March 2019. She is responsible for strategic and operational leadership relating to Lloyd’s Syndicate 4472. She is Chief Underwriting Officer for Liberty Managing Agency Limited and supports the management of Liberty’s underwriting platform at Lloyd’s. Jane is also the UK Branch Manager for LSM’s European company platform, Liberty Mutual Insurance Europe SE, and the Executive Sponsor for Diversity, Equity & Inclusion for LSM.
Jane has been elected as one of the Corporate External Members of the Council of Lloyd’s, and takes up her three-year term of office from 1st February 2025. Jane is a Director of the Liberty Managing Agency Limited Board and was appointed to the Board of the Lloyd’s Market Association in October 2022. She is also a Member of the ESG Advisory Group of the Council of Lloyd’s.
Jane joined Liberty in 2019 from Axis Specialty Europe, where she was Chief Operating Officer (COO). She was responsible for Axis’ international insurance operations in Singapore, Bermuda, Dublin, and London Market, including Syndicate 1686, and maintaining regulatory relationships. The role included supporting the strategic development of key countries and their leadership teams. Jane held a number of senior roles within Axis prior to her appointment as COO.
Jane has over 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry in senior management, Operations, Re/Insurance Underwriting, Risk Management, Broking, and Regulatory roles.
Emma Woolley is Chief Executive Officer of Talbot Underwriting. She was previously AIG’s Global Head of Marine, overseeing the largest Marine portfolio in the world, responsible for all of AIG’s international Marine business and underwriting activity.
Emma joined in 2022 from Lancashire Group, a FTSE 250 Insurer, where she served as CEO of its Lloyd’s business and as a member of the Group Executive Committee.
Nick Moore has 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry, the last 20 of which have been within the Lloyd’s market. Nick was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Argenta Holdings Ltd with effect from 01 January 2023 having joined the Argenta Board in July 2022.
Nick joined ASML as Chief Actuary in 2009, having previously spent time with the Corporation of Lloyd’s as Manager, Marketing, Reserving and Capital. He started his career at Swiss Re as an actuarial analyst. He was appointed to the Board of ASML in July 2012 and as Managing Director of the Company with effect from 01 January 2023.

LMA Board Member
Adam is the CEO of Nephila Syndicate Management, based in London. Since joining Nephila in 2013, Adam has been responsible for the Company’s Lloyd’s syndicate platform, where he was the Active Underwriter for Syndicate 2357 from 2014 to 2018.
Adam has over 25 years of experience working in the insurance industry. Prior to joining Nephila, Adam was a Managing Director with Willis Capital Markets & Advisory, the Willis Group's investment banking unit, based in New York and London. From 2004 to 2006, Adam was the Chief Financial Officer for Willis's global reinsurance business, Willis Re. Adam qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994.
Hugh Brennan is the Chief Executive Officer of RenaissanceRe Syndicate Management Ltd, RenaissanceRe’s Lloyd’s platform and chairs the broader UK Operations Executive Committee. Hugh joined RenaissanceRe in Bermuda in 2009 to help drive the establishment of RenaissanceRe’s Lloyd’s Syndicate, subsequently moving to London. Initially, Hugh served as CFO of RenaissanceRe’s emerging UK and broader European operations, assuming a series of positions of increasing responsibility over time before stepping into his current role in 2016.
Prior to joining RenaissanceRe, Hugh spent nine years with PricewaterhouseCoopers working in the financial services sector of their Dublin, New York and Bermuda offices, both in an audit and later in an advisory capacity, with primary focus on the Insurance/Reinsurance market.
Hugh is a Chartered Accountant and a CFA Charter holder.
Cécile has 20 years of insurance industry experience and joined QBE in 2018 to manage its UK Insurance business. In April 2021 she was promoted to run QBE’s Insurance Division, which comprises of the UK, Europe and International Markets business units.
Prior to joining QBE, Cécile held a number of senior positions at Zurich, including Head of Personal Lines for Europe, Middle East and Africa and Chief Underwriting Officer for UK General Insurance and before that worked for Insurance Australia Group in Sydney.
Cécile was named Active Underwriter for syndicate 386 in 2020.
Atrium appointed John as Chief Executive Officer in October 2023, having previously served as Chaucer’s Chief Underwriting Officer.
John’s main responsibilities include the general oversight, management, and strategic development of the business.
John was previously Active Underwriter for Syndicate 1084. Prior to that, he was Head of the Specialist Lines Division of Chaucer. John has experience in both the company and Lloyd’s markets.
Lorraine Harfitt is Chief Executive Officer at Asta.
Joining Asta in 2013 as Head of Risk Assurance, Lorraine was initially responsible for implementing the new Lloyd’s Minimum Standards within Asta. In 2014 she was appointed Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the continued oversight and enhancement of Asta’s successful operating model. Lorraine was appointed Chief Executive Officer in August 2022.
Lorraine has over 30 years’ Lloyd’s market experience working in a number of client management, regulatory and operational roles. Prior to joining Asta, she worked at Lloyd’s itself where she held a number of senior positions and was responsible for leading the implementation of Solvency II across the Lloyd's market.
Lorraine is ACII qualified and completed the Lloyd’s leadership course at London Business School in 2010.
In May 2021 she was appointed to the board of the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA).
Sean McGovern is Chief Executive Officer of the AXA XL Lloyd’s/London Market business and was previously General Counsel.
Prior to joining XL Group, Sean held various senior positions at Lloyd’s of London, having joined in 1996 from private practice at Clifford Chance. In 2002, he was appointed a Director and Lloyd’s General Counsel, with global responsibility for Lloyd's legal, regulatory and Government affairs globally. In 2014, he also became Lloyd's first Chief Risk Officer and a member of the Franchise Board.
Sean is a non-executive board member of The City UK, which promotes the UK financial services sector, and is also Chairman of its International Trade & Investment Group. He has also been appointed by the US Treasury to serve as a member of the US Federal Advisory Committee on Insurance, which advises the US Treasury on insurance issues.
Mark Newman, Chief Executive Officer of Canopius UK and Canopius Managing Agents, joined in 2016 as the CEO for APAC and MENA region. He relocated to London to assume his current role in the second quarter of 2024. Previously, he served as the CEO of Catlin Asia Pacific, and has 24 years of experience living in Asia, both in Singapore and Japan. Mark's career began in property and casualty broking with both J&H, Marsh and Guy Carpenter, covering regions including London, Latin America and APAC.
Sarah Stanford was appointed CEO Aspen UK in March 2024, previously holding the role of Active Underwriter of Syndicate 4711. She joined Aspen in December 2007 within the newly formed financial lines team. Sarah has more than 20 years’ experience within the industry and has previously worked in underwriting positions at Limit MJ Harrington Syndicate 2000/QBE.
Vivek Syal is Chief Underwriting Officer of Tokio Marine Kiln (TMK). Prior to this he was Group Chief Risk Officer at TMK, where he has been a member of TMK’s Board of Directors and holds various senior roles with Tokio Marine Group.
A proven leader with a wealth of market knowledge, strong relationships, and technical expertise, he has played an instrumental role in developing and leading TMK’s vision and strategic direction. Vivek’s forward-thinking approach, in-depth understanding of TMK’s global business and strong market relationships will bring a different perspective to the Chief Underwriting Officer role to enable TMK to fulfil its ambitions.
Prior to TMK, he has held various senior positions at ProSight, Bank of England and PwC, amongst others. He is an Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Council member at ClimateWise and has been a chair/member of various industry committees.
Vivek graduated in Actuarial Science from Cass Business School.
Henry Withinshaw is Chief Operating Officer for the London Market Division of OdysseyRe and Newline Group and on the board of a number of EU subsidiaries. He joined the company in January 2016 with more than 25 years of insurance and reinsurance underwriting and management experience. Previously he was with Markel where he was COO of Markel Europe and had primary responsibility for Markel’s Latin American operations. Prior to that he worked at Miller Insurance and Sirius International. He started his insurance career as an underwriter in the Lloyd’s market. Henry is ACII qualified.
Vinay Mistry is the Chief Commercial Operations Officer for Apollo, responsible for leading the Claims, Exposure Management, Compliance and Enterprise Risk Management departments, driving operational excellence across these critical functions and supporting the delivery of Apollo’s long-term vision and strategy. He has been at Apollo since 2019, when he was appointed as Chief Risk Officer and Board Director. Tasked with building and enhancing the business’s risk and actuarial capabilities, Vinay has played a pivotal role in shaping Apollo’s evolution. Under his stewardship, the organisation has successfully expanded its scope to include additional business teams and syndicates under management, reflecting his ability to adapt to the evolving market landscape, and with a view across corporate and mixed capital support considerations.
With a career spanning two decades in the Lloyd’s market, Vinay brings a wealth of experience from senior leadership roles at some of the industry’s most respected organisations. He is a seasoned leader with expertise across risk management, actuarial science, corporate governance, and sustainability initiatives. Since joining the Lloyd’s market in 2006, he has held key positions within the Corporation of Lloyd’s, AEGIS London and SCOR's managing agencies. Vinay began his career in investment banking with Merrill Lynch and working within Aviva’s corporate teams before joining Lloyd’s.
Beyond his executive responsibilities, Vinay is deeply committed to advancing industry standards through active participation in influential committees. He has served on several LMA committees, including as Chair of the CRO Committee and as a founding member of the Sustainability Committee.
Chris serves as the Underwriting lead at the LMA, overseeing Cyber, Property, Casualty/Liability and P&C Treaty. With three years at the LMA, he manages the class of business committees, ensuring their effective operation.

Max joined the LMA as part of the Legal Trainee Wordings Scheme, an initiative designed to produce qualified and technically trained solicitors for the London insurance market. The scheme lasts for two years and provides trainees with experience in claims, underwriting and wordings, as well as with the legal and regulatory team.
Prior to joining the LMA, Max worked as a Senior Adjuster at ASL International, focusing on complex financial lines claims emanating from across the world, with a particular interest in Latin America, given his fluency in Spanish.
Max holds a Bachelor's degree in Law with Politics and a Master's in Legal Practice.
Daniella joined the LMA as part of the Legal Trainee Wordings Scheme, an initiative designed to produce qualified and technically trained solicitors for the London insurance market. The training programme lasts for two years and provides trainees with experience in claims, underwriting, wordings, as well as with the legal and regulatory team.
Before joining our Legal Trainee Wordings Scheme, Daniella was a geophysicist at Fugro, a civil engineering firm.
Daniella has also completed the Law Conversion Course (PGDL) and postgraduate Legal Practice Course from BPP Law School.
Arabella Ramage joined the LMA on September 2021. Arabella is responsible for providing support on legal, wordings, regulatory and compliance issues to the Lloyd’s managing and members’ agency community. She focuses on legal issues impacting the Lloyd’s market including law reform and financial services regulation, as well as maintaining an overview of the UK and international legal and regulatory environment.
Prior to joining the LMA, Arabella was the General Counsel for International Insurance and Reinsurance with responsibility for all legal support for insurance and reinsurance business across AXA XL’s international platforms and Lloyd’s syndicates. She has led a large team of lawyers and wordings specialists across 17 jurisdictions. Arabella has worked for AXA XL since 2000 and began her career at Ince & Co in 1990.
Ray Koh joined the LMA in September 2022. Ray is responsible for the wordings trainee scheme as well as participating on the day to day work of legal at the LMA.
Previously, Ray worked for 15 years at AXA XL, latterly as an Associate General Counsel in charge of legal issues relating to distribution and delegated authority. Prior to that he worked as a litigation lawyer at the law firms of RPC and CMS.
Ray sits as a Deputy District Judge (Civil) on a part time basis.
Muhammad joined the LMA as part of the Legal Trainee Wordings Scheme, an initiative designed to produce qualified and technically trained solicitors for the London insurance market. The scheme lasts for two years and provides trainees with experience in claims, underwriting and wordings, as well as with the legal and regulatory team.

Muhammad holds both a Bachelor's degree in Law with Criminology and a Master's in Legal Practice.

Jay joined the LMA as part of the Legal Trainee Wordings Scheme, an initiative designed to produce qualified and technically trained solicitors for the London insurance market. Prior to joining the LMA, Jay worked as an Immigration Paralegal at Lewis Silkin. He has a degree in History and Politics from the London School of Economics (LSE).
Sebastian joined the LMA in March 2023 as Senior Executive, Claims.
Prior to joining the LMA, Sebastian held roles with AXA, Deloitte and most recently as Claims Operations Project & Performance Manager for Chubb. With close to 20 years’ experience in the industry across multiple geographies, Sebastian has led and/or supported initiatives and projects relating to operating model, digital/tech and claims strategy. He will support the Lloyd’s claims community and look to build on its strong fundamentals whilst driving change for the continued success of the market.
Sheila Cameron was appointed Chief Executive of the LMA in 2019, where she represents the voice of the managing agent community in the London market. She has been heavily involved in the Future at Lloyd’s strategy and the market’s cultural reform agenda. In addition, Sheila is a board member of the London Market Group (LMG), chairs the LMG’s Data Council and is a Vice President of the CII’s Insurance Institute of London.
Before becoming CEO at the LMA, Sheila led various international change and operational functions at The Hartford, Hiscox and Xchanging’s claims business. She began her career at Accenture in Dublin.
Joe Brace was appointed Operations Director at the LMA in April 2025. Through engagement with operations and technology C-suite in Lloyd’s managing agents, Lloyd’s Corporation and other London market trade associations, he is responsible for representing LMA members’ interests in, and the LMA contribution to: market modernisation and digitisation initiatives; supporting and influencing the design, adoption and evolution of shared, central services supplied to LMA members.
Acting as Customer Representative for LMA members and working closely with the London Insurance Market Operations & Strategic Sourcing (LIMOSS) team, Joe also has oversight of the effective and efficient delivery of production services and change programmes by Market Services supplier organisations.
Prior to joining the LMA, Joe was Head of Change at Apollo.
Janine Powell joined the LMA as Claims Director in August 2022. Janine has held various other senior roles within Lloyd’s since 2010 and has over 25 years of insurance industry experience.
In her Claims Director role, Janine provides claims leadership on strategic, technical and operational matters and will seek to influence and challenge the strategy of claims across the market and Lloyd’s, on behalf of our members and the Lloyd’s claims community, to enable the future success of the market.
Fiona leads the strategic direction of People, Culture and the Academy at the LMA.
Fiona has over 25 years of experience in human resources. Before joining the LMA in 2019, Fiona was Global Head of Talent at Aspen and has held other HR roles in the insurance market, including Global Head of Talent at Catlin. Fiona is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers, and is qualified in using several psychometric tools.
Fiona holds a LLB (Hons) in Law.
Matthew joined the LMA in 2026 as Underwriting Director, where he leads the LMA’s Underwriting team and plays a critical role in working with the Corporation of Lloyd’s, LMA members and the wider Lloyd’s market.
He has 20 years’ London market experience, during which he has held a range of leadership roles for companies writing between US$150m annually to US$3.9bn GWP. Prior to joining the LMA, he served as CUO and Active Underwriter for Ki. He was previously responsible for an underwriting portfolio of US$3.9bn GWP at The Fidelis Partnership, working across multiple classes including reinsurance, marine, aviation, political violence, contingency, political risk, transactional liability and property D&F.

Leigh joined the Lloyd’s Motor Underwriters Association in 1995, which later merged with the LMA in 2005. Leigh assists David Powell in the secretarial duties relating to motor business panels and provides support in the running of the Political Risks, Terrorism and UK Property and Household Business Panels.

As Executive, HR and LMA Academy, Ruby works across the employee lifecycle, providing day-to-day support to all new and existing LMA employees. Ruby also provides administrative support to the LMA Academy, assisting with designing, facilitating and delivering LMA Academy offerings.
Ruby joined the LMA in 2022 after graduating from university.
Ruby holds a BA in History.
As Head of HR, Claire is responsible for the development and implementation of the LMA’s HR strategy, designed to attract, develop and retain talented and engaged employees.
Claire joined the LMA in 2023 after working as an independent consultant providing HR consultancy advice to clients within professional and financial services, including the LMA. Claire has over 30 years of experience in HR, working across a diverse range of industries and HR disciplines.
Claire holds a BA (Hons) in Education and Social Biology, a Diploma in Personnel Management and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Personnel and Development.
Sophie performs end-to-end vacancy management, supporting hiring managers with all recruitment activity. Sophie is responsible for managing candidate experience through the recruitment cycle and is the main point of contact for all LMA applicants. While Sophie focuses on talent attraction for open vacancies, she is available for discussion with individuals interested in a career at the LMA.
Sophie joined the LMA in 2025 as part of the LMA’s recruitment process outsourcing arrangement with Avencia Consulting.

As an Executive, Technical Underwriting, Toby works on wordings production, helping to draft and review LMA model wordings. He provides technical support to members and conducts research relevant to the market. Toby also represents the LMA at meetings and on external groups. Prior to joining the LMA, he spent some time working in schools.
Toby holds a BA in Politics.

Diane has worked in the London market for nearly 40 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to supporting our members on all Delegated matters, particularly providing technical expertise to our DA Wordings and DA Best Practice groups who report into our Delegated Authority Committee (LMADAC).
Carla Wise joined the LMA in July 2020 as Manager, Delegated Authority.
Carla leads and supports our members on all Delegated matters, taking ownership of the LMA’s Delegated Authority (DA) committee structure. Carla supports and appropriately influences the ongoing development of the market’s DA strategy, leading on its implementation via collaborative initiatives with our members, Lloyd’s and other London market associations.
Matthew started working at the LMA in March 2025 and will have the unique opportunity to be involved in the delivery of the transformational Computable Binding Authority Agreement (CBAA) initiative designed to digitise Delegated Authority contracting and support the DA streamlined compliance initiative.
Matt Wood joined the LMA in October 2020 as Head of Technology. Matt is responsible for the technology, operational resilience and security remits we currently use at the LMA. Additionally, his role extends to engagement with our members, suppliers and other stakeholders with a focus on technology enablement of the Market, which comes in many and varied forms.
Prior to working with the LMA, Matt was Head of Business Operations at Integra Insurance Solutions, an MGA owned by Hannover Re.

Leigh assists David Powell in the secretarial duties relating to motor business panels and provides support in the running of the Political Risks, Terrorism and UK Property and Household Business Panels.
Chris serves as the Underwriting lead at the LMA, overseeing Cyber, Property, Casualty/Liability and P&C Treaty. With three years at the LMA, he manages the class of business committees, ensuring their effective operation.
Before joining the LMA, Chris held senior roles in underwriting and portfolio management at AIG, Assurant and Castel. Earlier in his career, he gained valuable experience as a broker with Marsh.
Janine Powell joined the LMA as Claims Director in August 2022. Janine has held various other senior roles within Lloyd’s since 2010 and has over 25 years of insurance industry experience.
In her Claims Director role, Janine provides claims leadership on strategic, technical and operational matters and will seek to influence and challenge the strategy of claims across the market and Lloyd’s, on behalf of our members and the Lloyd’s claims community, to enable the future success of the market.
Sebastian joined the LMA in March 2023 as Senior Executive, Claims.
Prior to joining the LMA, Sebastian held roles with AXA, Deloitte and most recently as Claims Operations Project & Performance Manager for Chubb. With close to 20 years’ experience in the industry across multiple geographies, Sebastian has led and/or supported initiatives and projects relating to operating model, digital/tech and claims strategy. He will support the Lloyd’s claims community and look to build on its strong fundamentals whilst driving change for the continued success of the market.
Joe Brace was appointed Operations Director at the LMA in April 2025. Through engagement with operations and technology C-suite in Lloyd’s managing agents, Lloyd’s Corporation and other London market trade associations, he is responsible for representing LMA members’ interests in, and the LMA contribution to: market modernisation and digitisation initiatives; supporting and influencing the design, adoption and evolution of shared, central services supplied to LMA members.
Acting as Customer Representative for LMA members and working closely with the London Insurance Market Operations & Strategic Sourcing (LIMOSS) team, Joe also has oversight of the effective and efficient delivery of production services and change programmes by Market Services supplier organisations.
Prior to joining the LMA, Joe was Head of Change at Apollo.
Ray Koh joined the LMA in September 2022. Ray is responsible for the wordings trainee scheme as well as participating on the day to day work of legal at the LMA.
Previously, Ray worked for 15 years at AXA XL, latterly as an Associate General Counsel in charge of legal issues relating to distribution and delegated authority. Prior to that he worked as a litigation lawyer at the law firms of RPC and CMS.
Ray sits as a Deputy District Judge (Civil) on a part time basis.

Prior to that, Alex held positions at the PRA and the FCA, where he worked as an Insurance London Market Supervisor and a governance policy expert, involved in SII and the roll-out of SMCR to insurance firms. Alex career started at Standard & Poor’s, where he was an Insurance Ratings Analyst, covering Western Europe and the Lloyd’s Market.

Prior to working with the LMA, Matt was Head of Business Operations at Integra Insurance Solutions, an MGA owned by Hannover Re.

Shazia began her career with the Non-Marine Association before its merger with the LMA, where she moved into a role in the Communications Team. She later took on responsibility for managing and supporting the Lloyd’s Wordings Repository (LWR) and was subsequently also appointed Secretary to the newly established Joint Specie Committee (JSC) for Specie and Fine Art Underwriters, part of the LMA’s Underwriting Team structure.

Arabella Ramage joined the LMA on September 2021. Arabella is responsible for providing support on legal, wordings, regulatory and compliance issues to the Lloyd’s managing and members’ agency community. She focuses on legal issues impacting the Lloyd’s market including law reform and financial services regulation, as well as maintaining an overview of the UK and international legal and regulatory environment.
Prior to joining the LMA, Arabella was the General Counsel for International Insurance and Reinsurance with responsibility for all legal support for insurance and reinsurance business across AXA XL’s international platforms and Lloyd’s syndicates. She has led a large team of lawyers and wordings specialists across 17 jurisdictions. Arabella has worked for AXA XL since 2000 and began her career at Ince & Co in 1990.

Additionally, he provides technical subject matter expertise in reserving, pricing, capital modelling and exposure management to both LMA members and other LMA teams.
Prior to joining the LMA, Sanjiv worked in actuarial roles for Lloyd’s and EY.
Sanjiv holds a BSc in Mathematics and is a fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Fiona leads the strategic direction of People, Culture and the Academy at the LMA.
Fiona has over 25 years of experience in human resources. Before joining the LMA in 2019, Fiona was Global Head of Talent at Aspen and has held other HR roles in the insurance market, including Global Head of Talent at Catlin. Fiona is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Insurers, and is qualified in using several psychometric tools.
Fiona holds a LLB (Hons) in Law.
As Executive, HR and LMA Academy, Ruby works across the employee lifecycle, providing day-to-day support to all new and existing LMA employees. Ruby also provides administrative support to the LMA Academy, assisting with designing, facilitating and delivering LMA Academy offerings.
Ruby joined the LMA in 2022 after graduating from university.
Ruby holds a BA in History.
Devi leads the delivery of technical training for the Business Operations Academy and Finance & Risk Academies. Devi works with internal stakeholders and LMA members to provide high-quality learning and development courses.
Devi joined the LMA in 2023 and has over 12 years’ experience project managing and deploying training programmes within the financial services sector.
Devi holds an MSc in Human Resources Development, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Level 7 and a BA in English Literature & Language.
Andy manages the design, facilitation and evaluation of all LMA Academy programmes.
Before joining the LMA in 2020, Andy worked in senior learning, development and talent roles in the insurance market, including Aspen, XL Catlin, Xchanging and QBE.
Andy holds a BA (Hons) in Geography and a Diploma in Insurance (Dip CII).
Through a broad range of learning opportunities, Anna actively enhances and equips the market's talent pool at all career levels within the LMA Academy. The Early Talent Academy enables the successful technical development and knowledge acquisition for early talent entering the market. The early talent offerings span across the five functional roles within the industry that our programmes cover: underwriting, claims, finance, risk and actuarial, business operations and sustainability.
Anna joined the LMA in 2024 and is responsible for our Early Talent Academy. Her focus is on technical training designed to develop the skills and capabilities of our members.
Anna holds an MSc in Performance Psychology, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Learning & Development (L&D) and a CIPD Level 5 Intermediate certificate in L&D.
Richard leads the delivery of technical training for the Underwriting and Claims Academies. Richard works with internal stakeholders and LMA members to provide high-quality learning and development courses.
Richard has over 35 years' experience in the insurance market. Before joining the LMA in 2020, he held senior roles in Zurich Insurance, including Global Head of the Commercial Underwriting Academy, UK Commercial Learning & Development Manager and Head of Broker Market for the North West United Kingdom.
Richard holds FCII Chartered Insurer status, a BA (Hons) in History and Geography, and a BA (Hons) in Insurance Management.

Carla Wise joined the LMA in July 2020 as Manager, Delegated Authority.
Carla leads and supports our members on all Delegated matters, taking ownership of the LMA’s Delegated Authority (DA) committee structure. Carla supports and appropriately influences the ongoing development of the market’s DA strategy, leading on its implementation via collaborative initiatives with our members, Lloyd’s and other London market associations.
