Key issues covered

The LMA Aviation Committee explores trends, risks and regulatory developments in aviation insurance. It helps to produce policy wordings, address emerging issues such as drones and cyber threats and provides technical guidance to the market.

Automatic termination

The Aviation Committee is continuing to explore the evolving issue of automatic termination, where coverage is terminated without notice under certain conditions, leaving aircraft operators unknowingly uninsured.

NACHA

NACHA-related issues in aviation insurance involve failed or delayed payments, which can lead to automatic policy termination and uninsured operations. Unauthorised transactions or non-compliance with data security rules may also cause disputes. These risks highlight the need for reliable payment systems and awareness of payment-linked coverage conditions.

PFAS exclusion

As Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) litigation and environmental regulations rise, insureds like airports and operators face growing costs and legal exposure. The exclusion leaves them vulnerable, with limited affordable insurance alternatives available to manage this emerging risk.

Wordings

The Aviation Committee helps to develop and issue LMA wordings for use across the market. To receive email notification of new wordings, please subscribe.
