Key issues covered

The Joint Marine Claims Committee provides leadership on marine claims matters in support of the LMACC and relevant underwriting committees. It identifies and investigates key marine-related issues, initiates focused projects and works to develop best practice solutions for the marine insurance market.

Environmental and climate risks

Extreme weather events such as hurricanes and flooding) are increasing cargo damage and vessel incidents. There is also greater scrutiny over pollution-related claims, especially involving oil or hazardous materials.

Cyber risks

There remains uncertainty about how cyber losses are covered, especially in traditional marine policies.
